Research Projects

In accordance with its mandate of assisting the government in planning and policy formulation, has evolved a research program specifically aimed to:
  • assess the impact of policies and programs on the country's development goals;
  • identify and analyze current and emerging policy issues and examine options in dealing with them;
  • recommend, where appropriate, policy options and strategies that, from the researcher's viewpoint, best address the country's development concerns;
  • generate greater understanding of socioeconomic development processes; and
  • help improve planning methods and approaches.
For over two decades, the Institute has carried out several major research projects under its research program. These research areas under the program are:
  • competitiveness and competition policies;
  • environment and natural resource management;
  • governance;
  • infrastructure development;
  • macroeconomic management;
  • modernizing Philippine agriculture;
  • policy analysis, planning tools and monitoring system; and
  • social sector reform
