The marketing, promotion and utilization of PIDS research studies are made possible through the publication of books and
other printed materials in various sizes and formats under the Publications and Circulation
Program.
From 1978 up to June 1999, the Institute has approximately published a total of 565 books, journals, newsletters,
monographs, memos and notes in various sizes and frequencies. As part of the Institute's outreach program, the research staff have also published their individual
studies and findings in various publications both here and abroad.
Functions
Handles the production of all PIDS publications and documentation, which includes:
- rewriting and repackaging of studies into
news articles and press releases;
- editing of studies and other documents
prior to publication or release;
- consultation with authors and researchers
concerning the editing of their studies;
- dealing with printing companies in every
aspect of production of publications; and
- designing, layouting and proofreading of
camera-ready materials for production.
Handles the dissemination and marketing of PIDS studies and publications, which includes:
- distribution and circulation of
complimentary copies to recipients under various categories based on the mailing list;
- maintainance and updating of the mailing
list;
- subscription to various regular
publications;
- sales of publications; and
- marketing through advertisements, press
releases and other promotions like participation in book fairs and exhibits.
Maintains an inventory of all PIDS publications.
Assists in the preparation and production of all
materials, printed or otherwise, used during conferences, workshops, etc.
At present, the Institute publishes six publications. The regular publications are the Journal of Philippine
Development, the Development Research News, and the Annual Report. The other publications
which come out with irregular frequencies are the Policy Notes, the Research Paper Series,
and the Discussion Paper Series. In addition, there are also special books on various topics
which are mostly integrative reports of completed PIDS studies.
