Library Services

The PIDS Library contains reference materials regularly used by the inhouse research staff. Library materials are basically for the use of the staff although outside researchers from other private organizations, academe and government agencies also utilize the relevant collection of the Library. The acquisitions depend mainly on the demand of the research staff.

The library collection include statistical books such as economic indicators, yearbooks, foreign trade statistics, statistical bulletins, journals, magazines, broadsheets, newspapers, and CD ROMs. An interlibrary exchange agreement with other institute libraries ensures the research staff of access to and availability of other economic publications.

A Computerized Documentation System/Integrated Sets of Information Systems (CDS/ISIS) facilitates the storage and retrieval of the library database in line with the Institute's goal to achieve a computerized PIDS library with access to other libraries in Metro Manila as well as abroad.

The utilization of the CDS/ISIS is envisioned to expedite the search for reference materials within and outside of PIDS through the system's specialized innovations which include, among others, the automatic build and maintain "fast access files" for various databases and fast retrieval of records through a search language.
